Indigenous 150+ / Ottawa Launch

INDIGENOUS 150+ is a film and conversation series dedicated to putting Indigenous voices centre stage. It was started in 2017, as a response to the Truth and Reconciliaton 94 Calls To Action.

October 16th, marks the launch of INDIGENOUS 150+ in Ottawa, which will be held on a quarterly basis in partnership with Asinabka Film and Media Arts Festival, and SAW VIDEO.

October 16th, is also a special event screening which will announce the vision to create a National Indigenous Cinema initiative and an invitation for businesses, foundations and individuals to come together to fulfill the vision.

The evening will include a Traditional Opening and blessing, a film programme which includes a Special Preview of FUTURE HISTORY: Reclaiming our History, Harnessing our Future, a new series created by Jennifer Podemski and Kris Nahrgang for APTN, about shifting the colonial narrative and celebrating the reclamation of indigenous knowledge and identity.

Special guest speakers include: Jesse Wente, Indigenous Screen Officeand Kris Nahrgang, Chief Kawartha Nishnawbe First Nation, Artist and Executive Producer and Co-Host of Future History. The master of ceremonies for the evening will be Guy Freedman, President of First Peoples Group and a Senior Advisor on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
